Find & Replace Text Online
This tool replaces every occurrence of a word, phrase or pattern in a block of text. Paste your text, enter what to find and what to replace it with, and the result updates as you type, with each replacement highlighted so you can check it before copying. Your original text stays in the left panel, so nothing is lost if a replacement goes wrong.
By default the search is literal and ignores case, so characters like ., ? and ( are matched as themselves. Tick Match case to respect capitals, Whole words only to skip matches inside longer words, or Regular expression to search with a pattern.
How does the find and replace tool work?
Paste the text you want to edit into the left panel, type the word or phrase to find in the Find field and the new text in the Replace with field. Every match is replaced at once and the result appears in the right panel with the replacements highlighted. Copy or download the result when you are happy with it. Leave Replace with empty to delete every match instead.
Can I use regular expressions?
Yes. Tick Regular expression and the Find field is read as a JavaScript regular expression, so \d+ matches any run of digits and colou?r matches both spellings. In this mode the replacement can refer to capture groups with $1, $2 or $<name>, and $& inserts the whole match. While a pattern is incomplete the Find field is outlined and the text is shown unchanged. To build and debug a more complex pattern, the Regex Tester Tool shows each match and group as you type.
Can I use this tool for bulk text edits?
Yes. Whether you need to update a product name across a catalog, correct a recurring typo in a manuscript, or swap placeholder values in a template, every occurrence is replaced in a single pass. You can paste entire documents, code files or CSV data. The text is processed in your browser and is not uploaded anywhere.
