Convert Case Browser Extension
Transform text between 16 case conversions without leaving the page you are on. The Convert Case browser extension adds a right-click context menu to Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge that converts highlighted text in place. It supports writing conversions (UPPER, lower, Title, Sentence, Capitalized, No Accents), developer conversions (camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, CONSTANT_CASE, param-case, dot.case, path/case), and utility conversions (Alternating, Inverse, No Case). Title Case, Sentence case, and Capitalized Case automatically recognize thousands of proper nouns (names, places, brands, acronyms), and a Counts submenu shows live character, word, sentence, and line counts for the current selection. It works with Google Docs, Reddit, Disqus, WYSIWYG editors, TinyMCE, and iframe-based content, is free and lightweight, and handles all conversions locally on your device.
What is the Convert Case Browser Extension?
The Convert Case Browser Extension lets you transform text between various cases directly in your browser. Select text, right-click, and convert it in place without needing to go to another tool or website. It works with standard web pages, Google Docs, Reddit, Disqus, and other editors.
How do I install the Convert Case Browser Extension?
You can install the Convert Case Browser Extension from your respective browser's extension store. Once installed, you can immediately start using it.
Which devices or browsers are compatible with this extension?
The extension is designed to be compatible with most major browsers (Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge). Please check the listing in your browser's extension store to ensure compatibility with your specific device and browser version.
How does the extension work?
Once installed, highlight the text you wish to convert in your browser, right-click on it, and choose the desired case conversion option. The text will be transformed directly in place. For Google Docs, use Shift+right-click to open the browser's context menu, or use your configured keyboard shortcuts instead.
How do I use the extension with Google Docs?
Google Docs uses its own right-click menu, so the standard right-click won't show the extension's options. Instead, use Shift+right-click to open the browser's context menu where you'll find the Convert Case options. Alternatively, use your configured keyboard shortcuts (by default: Alt+U, Alt+L, Alt+C, Alt+A) to convert selected text without opening any menu. You can change these defaults in your browser's extension shortcut settings.
What types of text transformations does the extension support?
The extension supports 16 conversions across three categories: writing conversions (UPPER CASE, lower case, Title Case, Sentence case, Capitalized Case, No Accents), developer conversions (camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, CONSTANT_CASE, param-case/slugify, dot.case, path/case), and utility conversions (Alternating Case, Inverse Case, No Case). You can access these via the right-click context menu or with keyboard shortcuts (default: Alt+U (uppercase), Alt+L (lowercase), Alt+C (sentence case), and Alt+A (title case)), which you can customize in your browser's extension shortcut settings.
Does the extension have keyboard shortcuts?
Yes. The default shortcuts are Alt+U (uppercase), Alt+L (lowercase), Alt+C (sentence case), and Alt+A (title case). You can customize these in your browser's extension shortcut settings, or access the shortcuts page from the context menu.
Why don't the keyboard shortcuts work?
Another extension may be using the same keyboard shortcuts. You can change them to ones that don't conflict in the extension's settings menu.
How do I automatically copy text after conversion?
Right-click on any selected text and enable the "Copy After Conversion" option in the context menu. Once enabled, every conversion will automatically copy the result to your clipboard.
Are there any costs associated with using the extension?
The Convert Case Browser Extension is free to use. We believe in enhancing user productivity without adding to their costs.
Can I provide feedback or report issues with the extension?
Yes. If you encounter any issues or have suggestions, please email us or leave a review on your browser's extension store.
Does the extension store or transmit my data?
Our extension is designed with user privacy in mind. It does not store or transmit your data to any external servers. All conversions are done locally on your device.
